ZONES 1 - ZONE 17

Zone One Police Zonal Command is located in the North-Western Geo-political zone of Nigeria. It comprises of Jigawa and Kano states, with the Headquarter located at Kano state. As at the time of compiling this report, the zone was headed by AIG. BELLO SADIQ. The entire zone one covers an area of about 61,060 square kilometers with a population of about 13,762,290 based on the 2006 census figure and combined police strength of 14,215 Officers.

Jigawa state has an estimated population of 4,361,002 based on the 2006 population census figure with the land mass of 22,410 square kilometers and combined staff strength of 5,281 Police officers. Kano state comprising of 44 Local Government Areas has a total land area of 38,650 square kilometers and a population of about 9,401,288according to 2006 national census figure.
Zone Two Police Command located in the South-western geopolitical zone of Nigeria, it comprises of Lagos and Ogun state. Zone two Headquarter is located in Lagos state. As at the time of collating this report, the zone was headed by AIG.ILIYASU AHMED. The entire zone has a Population of about 12,741,632 based on the 2006 population Census figures and combined police strength of 67,757 officers and men.

Lagos state according to the 2006 National population census figure has an estimated population of about 9,013,534 covering the 20 local government areas with a staff Strength of 29,122 Police Officers. Ogun state has an estimated population of 3,728,089 according to the 2006 Population census figure and staff strength of about 7,107 Police Officers.
Zone Three Police Command is located in the North-Eastern Geo-political zone of Nigeria and comprises of Adamawa and Taraba states. The Zone consists of the following sub-departments `A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ ‘D’, ‘F’ and `G’ with each performing its schedule of functions enumerated in part III of Police Regulations 1968. As at the time of putting up this report, the zone was headed by AIG. GWANDU H.ABUBAKAR. The entire zone has a total population of 5,468,837 based on the 2006 population Census figure and combined police staff strength of about 12,563 officers.

Adamawa state according to the 2006 National Population Census figure has an estimated population of 3,168,101 covering the 21 Local Government areas with a police staff strength of about 6,958 officers.
Taraba state according to the 2006 Population Census figure has an estimated population of 2,300,736 covering the 16 Local Government areas and a staff strength of about 5,605 police officers.
Zone Four Police Command is located in the North-central Geo-political zone of Nigeria is one of the resultant effects of the Force reorganization, 1986 during which six Zones were created. Certain numbers of states were placed under the zone for the purpose of effective supervision and administration. Zone Four presently has three states Commands under it namely: Benue and Nasarawa state commands with the zonal Headquarters at Markurdi, Benue State and has a workforce of 321 personnel as at the time of putting up this report. The Zone Four Police Command is headed by JONAH JACKSON MAVA. The entire zone has a population of 6,082,519 based on the 2006 National Population Census figure and combined Staff strength of 10,122 officers.

Benue state according to the 2006 Population Census figure has an estimated population of 4,219,244 Covering the 23 Local government Areas with police staff strength of 4,705 officers.

Nasarawa state according to the 2006 Population Census figure has an estimated population of 1,863,275 covering the 13 Local Government areas with police staff strength of 5,417 while Plateau state has an estimated population of 3,178,712 covering the 17 local government areas with police staff strength of about 5,920 officers.
Zone Five Police Command located in the South-south Geo-political zone of Nigeria and comprises of Edo and Delta states. As at the time of collating this report, the flag of the Zone is steered by DIBAL YAKADI,mni.

The entire zone has a population of 6,436,664 based on the 2006 population census figure and combined police staff strength of 16,995 officers. The zonal Headquarters, Benin is the administrative base for the other states. It is situated at Adesuwa Grammar school Road, Benin-city. Edo state according to the 2006 census figure has an estimated population of 3,218,332 spread over the 15 local government areas and police staff strength of about 10,276 officers. While Delta state has an estimated population of 3,218,332 spread over the 25 local government area and a police staff strength of about 6,719 police officers.
Zone Six Police Command located in the south-south Geopolitical zone of Nigeria and comprises of Akwa-ibom, and Cross-River state with the headquarter located in Cross River. As at the time of putting up this report, the zone is headed by AIG ZAKI M. AHMED. The entire zone has a population of 6,809,174 based on the 2006 census figures and combined police staff strength of 24,429 officers. Akwa Ibom state according to the 2006 national population census figure has an estimated population of 3,920,208 covering the 31 local government areas with staff strength of 7,222 officers.

Cross-River state has an estimated population census figure of 2,888,966 covering the 17 local government areas and a staff strength of about 6,606 officers and men. River state has an estimated population of 5,185,400 covering the 23 Local Government areas with staff strength of about 17,207 police officers.
Zone Seven Police Command located in the North central Geo-political Zone of Nigeria has the Northern Kaduna state as one of its constituent. The Zonal command comprises of FCT, Abuja and Niger state with the headquarter located in FCT, Abuja. As at the time of compiling this report, the Zone is headed by AIG.H.H KARMA. The entire Zone has a population of 4,198,772 based on the 2006 census figures and combined police strength of 34,515 Officers.
Zone Eight Police Command with its Headquarters in Lokoja comprises of Kogi and Kwara states. As at the time of compiling this report, the zone was headed by AIG YUNANA BABAS,mni. The entire zone has a population of about 5,652,567 based on the 2006 census figures and a combined strength of 8,360 Officers and Men. Kogi state according to the 2006 National population census figure has an estimated population of 3,278,478 covering the 21 local Government areas with police staff strength of about 4,035 police Officers.

Kwara state has an estimated population of 2,374,089 constituting about 1.694% of the total population covering the 15 Local Government areas with Police staff strength of about 4,325 Officers.
Zone Nine was established in December 2000, but commenced its operation in January, 2001. It is located in the South-Eastern Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria and comprises of  Imo, and Abia States with its Headquarters in Umuahia.

As at the time of compiling this report the zone was headed by AIG BABA TIJJANI. The entire zone has a population of about 14,208,234 based on the 2006 census figures and combined police strength of 49,791 officers.
Zone Ten Police Command established in December 2002 is located in the North-Western Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command is comprises of Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara State commands. As at the time of compiling this report, the zone is headed by AIG MUHAMMAD A. MUSTAFA. The entire zone has a population of about 12,195,473 based on the 2006 census figure and combined Police strength of 12,070 officers.

Sokoto State according to the 2006 National Population Census figure has an estimated population of 4,696,999 covering the 22 Local Government Areas with estimated police strength of 4,190 Officers. Zamfara state has an estimated population of 4,259846 covering the 15 Local Government Areas with an estimated population of 2.5 million people and an estimated Police strength of 3,610 personnel. Kebbi State has an estimated population of 3,238,628 covering the 21 Local Government Areas and Police staff strength of about 4,065 Police officers.
Zone Eleven Police Command is located in the South West Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. It comprises of Osun and Oyo state commands with the Headquarter in Osogbo. As at the time of compiling this report, the zone is headed by AIG OLUSHOLA BABAJIDE. The entire zone has a population of about 9,041,255 based on the 2006 population census figures and combined police strength of 11,589 Officers. Osun state has an estimated population of 2,423,535 covering the 30 local Government areas with staff strength of about 5,584 police officers. While Oyo state has an estimated population of 6,617,720 covering the 33 local Government areas with staff strength of about 6,005 police officers.
Zone 12 Police Command located is in the North-Eastern Geo-political zone of Nigeria is comprises of Bauchi, and Gombe state commands. As at the time of putting up this report, the zone is headed by AIG SANUSI MMA LEMU. The entire zone has a population of about 8,030,344 based on the 2006 census figure and combined police strength of 7,486 Officers. Bauchi state according to 2006 National population census figure has an estimated population of 5,676,465 covering the 19 Local Government Areas with staff strength of 3,500 police officers. While Gombe state according to the 2006 National Population Census figure has an estimated population of 2,353,879 and police staff strength of 3,986 officers and men as at the time of putting up this report.
Zone 13 Police Command is located in the South-East Geo-political zone of Nigeria. It comprises of Ebonyi Enugu and Anambra state, with the Headquarter in Akwa.  As at the time of putting up this report, the zone is headed by DAN-MALLAM MOHAMMED,fdc. Ebonyi state has an estimated population of 2173,501 covering the 12 local government areas and has a staff strength of about 3,561 police officers. Zone 6 command however comprises of a population of 546 personnel.
Zone 14 Police Command is located in the South-East Geo-political zone of Nigeria. It comprises of Kastina and Kaduna state, with the Headquarter in Kastina. Katsina state according to the 2006 National population census figure has an estimated population of 5,792,578 covering the 34 Local Government Areas with staff strength of 4,143 Police officers. Zone 14 Police Command is located in the South-East Geo-political zone of Nigeria. It comprises of Kastina and Kaduna state, with the Headquarter in Kastina. Katsina state according to the 2006 National population census figure has an estimated population of 5,792,578 covering the 34 Local Government Areas with staff strength of 4,143 Police officers.
Zone 15 Police Command is located in the North-East Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command is comprises of Borno and Yobe State commands. As at the time of compiling this report, the zone is headed by AIG LAWAL ADO. Borno has an estimated population of 5,151,193 covering the 27 Local Government Areas and a staff strength 6,456 police officers. Yobe state Command, has an estimated population of 3,321,591 covering 17 local government areas and staff strength of 4,022 police officers.
Zone 16 Police Command is located in the South-South Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command is comprises of Bayelsa and River State commands. As at the time of compiling this report, the zone is headed by AIG. AUSTIN .I. ABONLAHOR. Bayelsa state however has an estimated population of 1,703,358 spread over the eight local government areas and a combined Police Staff strength of 4,551 officers.

Zone 17B Police Command is located in the South-West Geo-political Zone of Nigeria. The Zonal Command is comprises of Ondo and Ekiti State commands with the Headquarter in Akure. As at the time of compiling this report, the zone is headed by AIG.DAVID FOLAWIYO,mni. Ekiti state has an estimated population of 2,384,212 constituting about 1.703% of the total population covering 16 Local Government areas with Poilce staff strength of about 3,759 police officers. Ondo state according to the 2006 national population census figure has estimated population of 3.4 million covering 29 Local Government Areas with staff strength of about 6,588 police officers
